About: To drum up excitement around their new album, lili STUDIOS created a 6-week virtual fan experience on behalf of the band that began April 7th (in tandem with their first EP release) and culminated with a groundbreaking livestream performance on May 21st.

Project: Lovecraft Country Sanctum Virtual Reality Experience

About: Sanctum was a series of exclusive virtual reality events, which transported Lovecraft Country fans into a world inspired by the show. It hosted three live events throughout the season with guest voiceover performances by Jurnee Smollett, Jonathan Majors, Courtney B. Vance, and Michael Kenneth Williams. Each event took place on VRChat, an application that allowed guests to talk and interact with each other in real-time within the environment.

Users who weren't able to participate within the social VR space could watch the livestream on YouTube and also interact in real-time, solving riddles to trigger spells that directly impacted the experience.

Project: His Dark Materials Augmented Reality Mobile App (iOS + watchOS)

About: With the His Dark Materials: My Daemon app for iOS and Apple Watch, you can see your daemon come to life in AR, journey alongside your favorite characters, and get custom activity suggestions from your daemon to help you live your best life.

Project: Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall Virtual Reality Experience

Awards: Nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Creative Achievement In Interactive Media within a Scripted Program, 2019.

About: To celebrate the final Season of Game of Thrones HBO produced an immersive, 6DoF virtual reality experience to allow users to experience the world of the show like never before.

Utilizing 4D technology (wind machines, rumble floors, heat emitters), the latest HTC Vive, and Unreal engine, the experience transported users North of the Wall.

Installed across AT&T flagship stores - Chicago, San Francisco, LA.

Project: Game of Thrones S8: The Dead Must Die, A Magic Leap Encounter

About: HBO partnered with AT&T, Magic Leap and Framestore’s immersive VR team to create an experience which brings the world of GOT--including wights and White Walkers--into the real world. This experience combines the physical and digital worlds to show users what it feels like to come face to face with the real threat in the north.

Project: Silicon Valley: Inside the Hacker Hostel VR

About: HBO partnered with REWIND VR studio to produce an interactive, virtual recreation of the iconic set where the show’s main characters live and work. This experience brings fans into the Silicon Valley universe and allows them to run wild in the space, play games and interact with their favorite characters. There are over 755 interactions, including the abilities to take a hit from a virtual bong, use the “Not Hotdog” app in VR and play “Always Blue”.

Project: Westworld: The Maze

About: An immersive, “choose-your-own-adventure” style Alexa Skill designed to test fans’ show knowledge and bring them deeper into the Westworld universe in a new way. The Maze includes 2 hours of unique gameplay, 60 storylines and 400 game choices riddled with questions about Westworld. It utilizes 35 unique voice actors, SFX the show’s rich sound library, and cast cameos to enhance authenticity and deliver HBO-quality production value.

Project: Esme & Roy Alexa Skill

About: In partnership with Sesame Workshop, HBO produced the network’s first interactive Alexa Skill for children (ages 3+). Esme and Roy take kids on pretend play adventures that encourage them to move their bodies and use their imaginations to join the fun. The skill features talent and recognizable sound effects from the animated series on HBO to encourage kids to play along with their favorite characters.
